Stanway Villa FC Set to Launch First Girls Team
Stanway Villa FC is excited to announce plans to launch the club’s first-ever Girls Team — a major step forward in expanding football opportunities for young players within the community. This new initiative reflects the club’s long-term goal of building a stronger girls’ pathway and encouraging more young female players to enjoy the game.
The developing girls group will be led by Tommy Drake and Chanel Whittingham, who will begin working alongside the mixed U7 training sessions as interest grows. Tommy and Chanel will be supported by a strong and enthusiastic coaching team, with Ben Morris and Jake Molloy — both FA Level 1 qualified — helping to shape the early sessions.
Additional support will come from our DBS-checked helpers Peter Rabette and Olu Lawal ensuring every child feels safe, included, and encouraged as they get started.
Stanway Villa is now inviting families with girls in school years 1 and 2 to register their interest. The aim is to gradually build a dedicated girls-only training group, with the long-term plan to:
• Introduce girls through the mixed U7 sessions to develop confidence and skills
• Form a standalone girls team as numbers grow
• Begin playing friendly matches
• Enter a local league once the team is established
No previous football experience is required — just enthusiasm and a smile. The club is committed to providing a welcoming, supportive environment for every new player.
